Think how Gibbo shrunk the 335 into the more manageable 336/339

Did Gibson ever do the same with the 175?  I'm talkin' with a center block to help with stage volume feedback, not a fully hollow job

The Howard Roberts looks the part but do Gibson have a model in production that fits the bill at this point in time?

Gibson only folks  :)

The ES-135/137, I think. I don't think that either of them have been in production for a while butstill readily available (not so much the 137). The ES-135 came with HB's, P90's or P100's, and the ES-137 was limited to HB's, if I remember correctly.

I had a ES-135 (HB) and an ES-137 Custom. The ES-135 felt like a 'cheap' Gibson, but sounded fine and played fine, and the ES-137 Custom (with Varitone) was an excellent guitar, but too dark sounding for me - and damn heavy!

Does the ES235 put you in the right ball park?

Was thinking this too. Price is insanely good for what you get - can’t help but wonder what the catch is.

Yes, the 235's a good suggestion. I'm not sure of the body depth - it looks very thinline. The only drawback that I can see (if it is one) that you get a gigbag rather than a case. Looks good value though.

There's the reasonably rare ES-446/Pat Martino models as well.

I wonder if ESP will serve a lawsuit on them, given that Gibson have clearly copied ESP's 'pointy lower horn' look? Or maybe Gibson is aiming to lay claim to every variation on the 'single cut' shape...

Seventy, I think, this year. I've a feeling that the first year of production was 1949. Could be wrong. Usually am,
