Since we began, we've had a policy of trying to help businesses (particularly small ones), particularly by not being hostile and preventing them from posting. That's why we created the Made in the UK section - a handy place where they could put all their announcements, build logs etc.
Unfortunately, that's had the effect of hiding the poor buggers away, and threads in there get very little traffic compared with other sections.
With that in mind, we've made a bit of a change. For a little while now, we've had a section that's hidden from the majority of users, where our trusted businesses - those who've contributed to the forum as part of the community, and sometimes more than that - can talk about us lowly punters, bounce ideas around and suggest other businesses who should be a part of it. Not only is that a nice little refuge for them, it also handily gave us a list of those members; now, those businesses (and
only those businesses) will be allowed to post their business-related threads in the main areas, ie Guitars/Amps/FX. You'll still be able to distinguish them - those folk now have this on all their threads and comments:
All other businesses must continue to use Made in the UK; if they're not part of the group, then it means they're either not participating members of the community, or we don't know about them (in which case they should probably talk to us).
So...when will we give people that tag? Well, it kinda depends - there's no hard and fast rule here, but generally-speaking we'll be expecting them to participate with the community and get stuck in, and (fairly importantly) treat people well. It's important to note that having that tag is a privilege rather than a right on here; while we can say that we think they're good eggs, we
are human and we
can make mistakes.
It also means that while
we might think they're decent enough folk to deserve it, there's the legal caveat that no warranty etc is implied by us giving them that tag...
as always, any deals or transactions that take place between these businesses and our members are entirely the responsibility of the two parties involved.

I even blocked out 2pm-3pm for an argument. Had to do some work instead.

I've got a gig tonight, so I'll have to either do it at lunchtime or wait until tomorrow.
How embarrassing. Rookie mistake.
Try harder Lee!

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youBut I was kind of expecting the generic "Argh, this place is going all business-oriented, it'll be ads next etc" sort of thing.
Edit: actually, it might look better centred vertically... ;-)
