Gary Sparrow meets Life on Mars. Be told.
    How so Life on Mars?
in Life on Mars he gets hit by a car and wakes up in a parallel universe, in the Boyle film he gets hit by a bus and wakes up in a parallel universe
You sure have a lot to say on a film that you haven't seen.
Calm down Raymond. It's a discussion forum.
Yes, on a movie and what you think of it.

What do you think of it? having not seen it?

Base on your hatred on Boyle, I can't imagine you handing over your own money to watch a "plagiarised" piece of work.  Surely that would make your blood boil. lol

Hatred is a very negative emotion Raymond, and not one that I could reconcile with my progressive and open-minded outlook and attitude towards life.

For someone who claims he is open minded and progressive sure is negative about an uplifting movie when it is clearly pointed out that you can’t copyright an idea.

otherwise you sure start listing every movie ever made copying each other.  From science fiction having lasers to super heroes having a cape.

this movie is good, you should be open minded and watch it.

I never said GNS is better or worse.  Please don’t put words in my mouth.  My first post is all about this film and how I enjoyed this film.

i haven’t actually commented about GNS besides quoting a google synopsis.  You however have been accusing Boyle with no facts, commenting on a movie that you have not seen (it can be easily proven if you have by answering 1 question but I doubt you can or will).

all I get is stupid side track and deflection from you, boring.  All you want to do is put out defamatory comments without any facts to back it up.  The only thing you’ve said to back that up is “be open minded”

perhaps practice what you preach and be open minded and watch this film?

To be fair it's probably some of Lyndhurst's greatest work.

Right - any more of this obvious nonsense and I’ll have to step in properly..

I mean, suggesting GNS is better than OFAH. Sheesh.

I remember first seeing Nicholas Lyndhurst in a BBC adaptation of The Prince and the Pauper.  Then I was really surprised to see him in Butterflies looking about seven feet tall.

Anyway... Yesterday.  Interesting concept, but it's Richard Curtis so I know it will be smug romantic piffle.

Lyndhurt's portrayal of Macbeth at the Old Vic was spellbinding but didn't have the complexity of his Interpretation of Buttons in the Bournemouth panto in '93.

I loved Butterflies. Possibly an odd thing for me to have liked, to what extent as a teenage boy I was supposed to empathise with the plight of a bored suburban housewife I don't know. Maybe I should rewatch it now, as I'm the father of two young men who aren't moving out perhaps it would make a whole new level of sense to me.

Lyndhurst was in Going Straight ( ha, that would be a whole different series with that title now!) which was one of the great disappointments of my life - the disappointing follow up to Porridge which was one of the great TV series.

         -               -               -             -              -            -            -            -            -           -           -           -

I find it hard to get excited about Yesterday. If I wanted to listen to the songs of The Beatles I'd probably just listen to The Beatles. Richard Curtis had a hand in some great TV ( and some not so great TV) and a lot of films that I didn't really like ( I haven't watched his entire oeuvre) so there isn't a lot about Yesterday that shouts Watch Me.
