Arrived today. Had to order online/ unseen as not a single one of these anywhere in Scotland. Was initially looking for something budget/ Far East but the more I researched the more I couldn't resist one of these. Its the MIJ (Prestige) version.

Very different to all my other guitars. Wanted a shredder with a locking trem but don't like guitars that try too hard to look "metal", if you know what I mean. So Schecter was out!

I'm definitely keeping it. Out the box, fit and finish 9/10 (compared to some idealised version of perfection which probably doesn't exist). Fretboard a bit dry and needs some f-one oil but its come a long way! Neck dead straight but action initially quite high- just over 2mm on bass side so this was lowered straight away as were the bridge and middle pickups. Action now ~1mm and plays easily with no choke out on 2 step bends (plus). Seems fairly light for an alder body super strat with locking trem at 7lbs 9oz. Lighter than my CS strat anyway.

They were at one point, they're now alder.

Well done! You can’t go wrong with a 7vwh. I may be wrong but I think they have always been alder, the white ones. Light, responsive, consistent, awesome.

I’ll admit it looks a bit ostentatious, more than I’d usually go for. But it’s now a 32 year old design classic and the inlays make it look like a work of art!

Not too many Floyd/edge equipped guitars that don’t have a certain “look at me” vibe about them!

Thanks. Very much enjoying it so far. A couple of little cosmetic flaws that I thought might be avoided by going MIJ rather than the Indonesian version but nothing structural. In fairness I think these are probably overpriced in the order of £400-500 but I’d have still gassed after a v7-wh had I gone RG prestige instead!
