Here's the 52nd Riff of the Month (RotM) Challenge.
The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until midnight on 24th July 2019.

All you have to do is write a riff. You can include whatever else you want in the mix, but the main focus must be on the riff. Most entries will probably be guitar based riffs, but they don't have to be.

Aim to keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds. This is about riffs, not songs.
Send your entry (as an mp3) to riffs@theFB.co.uk
Include your forum name in the email.

Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point. The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.

No prizes. It's just for fun.
As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used.

That makes 3 entries. Normal service will be resumed when the Soundcloud subscription is sorted out. This will required help from Soundcloud support so I'm not sure how long that will take.

What I want to know is how everyone manages to record with such great "presence" and brightness to their tone whilst I seem to record under a blanket.

My chain is guitar>interface >s gear plug in > reaper.

I use an HX stomp now, but used S-gear for all my "making music" stuff up until the last ROTM. If anything, the right guitar on this clip is bit too bright, but I am still tweaking my presets on the stomp. I usually high pass guitars (12db per octave) at about 80hz, I also gut a chunk of the bass between 50 & 80hz for the kick to poke through. Then 2-3 db of anywhere between 1.2 and 5k for the bass for some presence.

Most of mine is guitar>interface>s gear>logic.

what are you doing mixing wise?

Adjust the channel levels, a bit of eq on some channels.
