Gotoh SD tele tuners?

I've just bought a fat tele neck to replace a baja neck I currently have. The new neck has no tuners and i'm just wondering if I should swap the vintage type tele tuners from the baja over or if I should get some Gotoh vintage type tuners. Are the Gotoh tuners an upgrade over the Fenders?

Many of the low-to-mid price Fenders use replica Kluson Safety tuners made by Ping West. IMO, the Gotoh SD is superior. Less gear lash.

This will involve tapping out the ferrules on the front face of the headstock.

Does this involve just knocking the old ones out or is it more complicated, like drilling the wood? If it's going to be a tricky job i'll leave them there and buy some Gotoh ones for the new neck.

I don't personally think it's worth the trouble. A set of Gotoh's are £34 from @gavin_axecaster and they come with two sets of bushings for both vintage correct (about 8.8mm) and Fender diameter (9.2mm) machine head holes. And the Gotoh's work very very well. And no risk of chipping the lacquer trying to get the old bushings out.

Furthermore, if you decide to sell the Baja neck, including the stock machineheads will increase its appeal to punters.

I was thinking the same @CasperCaster & @Funkfingers, I think i'll just buy a set of Gotoh tuners and leave the Baja neck intact. Thanks both for your help.
