With a certain amount of reluctance, up for grabs is this super example of a 1957 RI Les Paul Custom. For sale only because it is in such exemplary condition, I cannot bring myself to subject it to the rigours of gigging and, due to a lack of recording projects, it is getting very little usage.


Firstly, this Les Paul Historic 1957 Custom is in a very rare Semi Transparent ‘TV Gold’ (a translucent gold rather than a 'Gold top'). Unlike the more recent Les Paul Customs, it has a solid mahogany body (which you can see through the translucent gold finish) and an Ebony board. It weighs 9.7lbs


Because it's an Historic 1957 reissue, it also has the same sizeable neck as you'd see on an R7 from this period, which gives it immense sustain and resonance


This has Custombucker pickups, added to this guitar (7.8k DCR neck and bridge.) Note that the bridge HB now has a roughcast Alnico IV in it. And, with the exception and the addition of Straplock buttons, it's totally stock and comes with the original 'Gibson Custom' black case and black COA from this period


This is an absolute tone machine - there are some folks out there who say that the all mahogany guitars are darker than the LP standards with a maple top and with respect, that just isn't true!


There are no scratches, dings or even buckle rash - it's super clean.


Sourced from SunDevil of this forum (as some may notice from the reuse of his very accurate description), it has good heritage. I’m open to trades. Probably for more ‘standard’ quality instruments or amps or even pedals; cash adjust ok for any disparity in values. I don’t ‘need’ anything as such, so feel free to suggest whatever but I do lean toward traditional over contemporary gear. For the cash buyer, a fee-free £2750 gets it.
