What size star washer for CTS pots?

Can anyone tell me what size star washer I need to fit over the shaft of a CTS Gibson USA pot? I’ve got that issue of the knobs standing very proud of the top on my Goldtop, and to lower them closer to the top I’ll need to pop a washer on the shafts inside the cavity. Many thanks.

If they’re more than a millimetre too high you need an extra nut instead of (or as well as) the shakeproof washer, which is probably already there. It’s a standard US 3/8” thread, I forget the exact description. Allparts and other vendors sell both the nuts and washers separately.

Before you buy any washers, check that the pot can be lowered, i.e. that there is thread showing above the nut.

Vintage style knobs are not recessed inside and tend to sit higher off the body.

Thanks guys. There is very little thread showing above the nut currently. I don’t think there’d be enough thread for the top nut if I put a nut on the shaft inside the cavity as well. Maybe I should just get used to the knobs sticking out a bit...  :s
