A rare and incredible Pre-Historic R6 Goldtop, an almost 30-year-old collector's piece conserved in brand-new 100% mint condition!

Specs:

- 1-piece mahogany back (still genouine Honduras mahogany, not the stuff from Fiji that is used in current Historics)
- Dark naturally oily East Indian rosewood fretboard (not the dry, grey RW that is used these days)
- Round medum neck profile (somewhere between 50s and 60s)
- Authentic 50's-style top carve
- ABR-1 bridge 
- Pots dated from '91 (13791xx pot codes)
- Authentic thin binding on fretboard and cutaway
- Upgraded Lindy Fralin P90's 
- Nice weight at 4,2 kg / 9.2 lbs
- Original hardcase in mint condition

Lovely guitar! Those inlays with the sharp ‘corners’ don’t look right for a 90s guitar, have they been swapped out maybe? What’s the serial number?

I agree greentint markers were made for the classic series. Is the neck profile skinny  or fairly chunky ? . I do like the colour tho its the right shade for a mid fifties.  Good looker

Nothing swapped on this baby, all-original despite the lovely Fralin P90's. The inlays were originally sharp on these early 56 RI models and had a very slight brownish tint for the factory-aged look. You can find all the available infos on the usual LP forums.

In some ways these early Pre-Historics are regarded as more vintage correct compared to the 2000's Custom Shop Historic-era offerings (inlays, Goldtop finish, neck profile, top dish, mahogany from Central America, etc.).

The neck profile is medium fat and rounded. Most similar to the original early '60 Burst that I've played and a little more rounded than my own original 60 LP Special's neck. It is chunky but soft on the shoulders.

I'm a regular at the MLP forum with many trades and deals.

Yep, that’s how the inlays were in the 90s, with rounded corners. The sharp cornered inlays weren’t introduced until 2003 I believe.

I seem to remember the sharp corners were first introduced in 2000, but only for '59 and '60 reissues.  And for the other reissue models in or by 2003.

The sharp inlays were introduced in '92 guys. This beuaty have 91 pots and early 92 serial number (2 02XX). The inlays are the same that you can find on other '92 Prehistoric Reissues.
