Does anyone know if a traditional two button switch (such as the Mosky Dual Switch) would do the job of switching "Mid Engage" and "Blend Override" or is the Origin Effects switch itself needed for this?

just tried this with strange results.

Plugged the TRS cable to my Origin switcher into a Vein Tap dual button switch (normally used to turn rev/trem on/off on a Deluxe Reverb). One press of the right button activates Blend Override, another press switches the RD's channels. One press on the left doesn't seem to do much, a second press turns the RD on and off.

So no, doesn't work as the RD's switcher does

I think you need to modify the cable as specified here for it to work.
I modified a cable following the instructions to use it with my ES-5 and it works alright.
