BTW - what strings did you ask them to put on? They look like Bronze (e.g. Elixir Polywebs) rather than the usual D'Addario Phosphor Bronze

IIRC they don't have Elixirs, and were putting on some other coated strings
order sheet says D’Addario EXP26's 11- 52, which are PB

Thanks - I think it must be the lighting in the photos that make them appear more yellow than phosphor bronze. I checked my Avalon photo file and the EXP16's (12's, also PB) look the same as yours although they appear darker in real life. BTW - I am expecting a delivery of the new D'Addario XT coated strings to give them a try.

I've now had the guitar for a few days

I've never had a guitar as attractive as this before, but I was worried that my spec might take the sound of the guitar outside my sweetspot

On initial playing, the top end zing was missing, but I put on a set of my favourite strings, and all was restored.

Overall, the sound quality is at the same level as my Goodall RCJ, but with better bass and mids
I will report back further soon

It took a few days using the Tonerite sometimes to let it develop
Now it's my favourite guitar (and I have more expensive ones, so that is saying a lot)
I would say that there are a lot of mids, so consider that before choosing the redwood top, I love the mids, but probably not right for all players

12th join with cutaway v 14 fret with cutaway. What tonal  differences? 

Looks like can play most things comfortable at 16th fret? When do you start to struggle?

slightly more mids than I expected
I think you get a fuller sound with 12 fretters, the bridge is closer to the centre of the effective part of the soundboard

I don't get up past the 16th fret on acoustics
I've done a test, and there's not much in it for upper fret access between this and my Avalon 14 fret (normal) cutaway
