Big pedals.

I just got a Danelectro Spring King (hence my Topanga hitting the FX classifieds) and I can't believe how enormous it is. I kind of love it, so what other giant pedals are there? I know the old EHX stuff, and vintage pedals in general tend to fly in the face of the micro pedal trend, but what else is around?

The big muff is pretty huge. I've also got a EHX graphic fuzz which is also massive.
The Vox delaylab wins on size and weight though

It's well known that big enclosures allow more space for the TOANZ to grow and to propogate inside.

It allows them to breathe, and of course, the bigger the enclosure the more reverb and clean headroom you get.

Small pedals suffocate the TOANZ and prevent their growth.

    Fact.

I really like the Maxon classic (?) series, all in large boxes (OD820 etc.). They still use that format occasionally, like the recent-ish compressor, one of my all time favourite pedals -

  • My Danelectro Reel Echo is, I think, the same size as your Spring King. That's the main reason it's not on my board more often, although I do love it.

Someone I know has one of these... Maestro Stage Phaser. (Presumably so called because it's the size of one!)

It's not only huge - about 8" square if I remember right - but very odd in that the whole pedal tilts up and down to operate the footswitch, which is mounted upside-down on an inset bottom plate. The big knob in the middle is a 3-position rotary switch you can turn with your foot, which is also the idea with the side wheels.

I can't remember what it sounds like... somewhat less dramatic than it's appearance, from memory.

That's amazing, I'd be able to tune up whilst being a couple of storeys up from my pedalboard.

God! I want one of those. I don't even play guitar anymore but that doesn't matter, I just want one as a sort of ambient light.
