Make a trem not trem

Thinking of hardtailing my prs-alike. It has a wudtone bridge that floats. Tuning stability is good (nut could do with work, being set up soon) but I want to get it back to drop C and harder.

Should I just go for lots of tight springs, and reintonate, or should I use a block? I used to use springs but it still had a tiny bit of wiggle even with 5 springs tightened right up...

On a floating vibrato, the only way to guarantee absolute non-movement is physical prevention. By this, I mean blocks. I have tried the Tremol-No device and, occasionally, found it wanting.

Increasing spring tension simply pulls the floating vibrato sharp of the neutral point.

Almost seems like a waste of the Wudtone vibrato bridge to block it. Might as well reinstate the stock item.

It's a self-build so it is stock  

Seems a waste, but it's cheaper than buying another humbuggy metal guitar! Of course, maybe I'll leave it to float, but it needs to chug.

I blocked off the strat trem in my JM with old pound coins, taped in threes.

I just used some 3mm thick lengths of pine I had laying around to block the trem on my Strat. Three pieces, two behind the block and one in front fitted perfectly. 

Did the same with the Floyd on my Charvel.
