It was! But my slide technique is definitely rusty, or at least quite rattly anyway. 

Although much like a bit of fret rattle that doesn't make it through the pick up, how bothered by a little noise behind the bar should I be??

I find brass and steel slides far noisier than glass or ceramic ones.

That's a very good point. I do have a glass and a plastic slide but always end up with this beastie as I do like the more gritty sound of the brass. When it's played well anyway.
