Notching acoustic saddle?

What's Hot
Any good reason why I can’t cut notch slots in my acoustic saddle to set the action for each string? ..seems like a more fool-proof and convenient route to making an action correction than sanding the bottom of the saddle, restringing, checking etc etc?

The major problem with it is that it will change the intonation point unless the saddle has been fitted so that it's as far back as possible so the crown is at the very front edge. If the crown is in the middle, the cutting string grooves down into the saddle will make them intonate sharp.
