@bwets Good point, ok that makes sense.
Not sure the potential added friction from angling them as mentioned in the other thread makes much difference compared to the six screws holding the tremolo but I will put them back straight just to be safe ;)  ( OCD rejoice )

@lysander do you know what radius it is? And what's the neck profile like? Would it be fair to say a Modern C? I definitely need a body and neck from @GSPBASSES of that's the end result!

12”, and yes modern C but I’m sure he can accommodate different specs as he built it to mine.

    Only available in pints, or 1/3 pints if you're a primary school child before Thatcher came to power. Other than that, it's this;

    You don’t like naked springs?
I suspect he means put them on straight....
Diagonal gives more tension and is pretty standard.
    You sure about that?

I'd have thought it makes the middle one redundant.
Yes the outside ones have more tension than the middle but the total tension is still the sum of the three. I’ve had / seen plenty of guitars come this way from the factory.
@axisus it’s vintage white, I can see what you mean on the photo, it looks less stark in real life.
Thanks for all the nice comments !
Angling the spring does not give any more (useful) tension. The tremolo resists the sum of the vertical tensions in the springs. When you angle a spring you split the total tension into horizontal and vertical parts. The horizontal part is of no use and the vertical part affects the tremolo.

it makes the soundwaves vibrate diagonally as well as verically
    =)

    Makes it play like butter...
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

What sort of lunatic stares in awe at the trem cavity of their guitar?

    I take it all back.
Obviously you can tell at a glance that man is not a lunatic.
