New Fender Classic Tweed cases

I have one more guitar than cases/gigbags and with an imminent (hopefully) house move, I needed to get one more. The proper G&G cases are a bit too expensive so I thought I'd get one like the one that came with my Classic 60s Lacquer Strat:

It's a nice enough case but not as good as the expensive ones.

A lot of the ebay sellers had photos of what looked like a G&G case (single compartment, red velvety lining rather than the orange plush stuff in my other case) for their £119 Classic Tweed cases - I assumed this was a mistake but bought one anyway. This is what arrived:

It's really a notch above the old Classic Series cases (which were available for about £109 a few months ago), almost indistinguishable from the G&G case that came with my Johnny Marr Jaguar. The details are much better, less plasticky material for the end protectors, that lovely red velvety interior, and even the handle is stitched and padded fake leather rather than the moulded plastic of the earlier cases:

My Strat fits in there with very little movement. Impressive!

  • does it weigh more than a panzer tank like the G&G cases?
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

It feels more substantial than the previous Classic Series case for sure.
