Over on musicradar I'd posted a thread about jazzing up an Epi Dot. Well here it is...

Specs are: GFS Mean 90 pickups, tonepros bridge, tailpiece and tuners, CTS pots / cloth wiring / switchcraft jack/toggle, jazzbass knobs bone nut, Hell Guitars trussrod cover, body buffed. That'll do nicely.

Oooohhhh, nice! Not totally sold on the knobs myself, but the rest of it looks spot-on  :)

Knobs are practical though - more grippy than shitty speed knobs, but I think witch hats would probably look better :)

Good stuff though, apart from the lack of Bigsby.

  • Nice. Even the headstock doesn't look too big on it (Epi headstocks usually do) ...
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

I fubar'd the Bigbsby. Got a B11 thinking I could use a Towner down-tension bar, thus utilising the stoptail holes. Turned out I'd need to raise the action to a stupid height to make it work. I will most likely add either a B7 or B5 with a vibramate mount later.

I like that, utterly de-of-bling. Bigsby will be s double win though :)

  • That's lovely. Really like the buffed finish. I agree that I don't like the knobs though.

Witch hats all the way but the guitar looks great as is.  The buffed body is excellent though.  Good work sir.

Looks good as is, don't foul it with a Bigsby.

Really liking that. I'd go for silver-insert reflector knobs myself, but I like those on everything Gibsonesque :)

Nice work, what'd you use to take the shine off the finish?

Fine grade steel wool, a buffer and elbow grease.

  • That is nice.

I really like it without the pickguard. It's a bit like the epiphone dot studio and Dregen from Backyard Babies' epiphone 355.
