I can't comment on the Adaptive Radius Technology in use, but it supposedly follows the shape of the fretboard radius.

It honestly takes me about ten seconds by eye, they don't need much of a tweak over that length.
Also, which cheap capos do you recommend?
Also, what kind of vice do you use?

I don't know that vendor and am not recommending them, but they're everywhere.
I just rig the capo in a bench vice with some pieces of round bar either side of the blade and give it a gentle squeeze, it really doesn't need much.
You could do it with a wood bench vice and blocks of wood, anything really, it doesn't require much force.
If you don't have any of that stuff to hand you're probably better off buying one of the recommended capos above, I just can't bring myself to spend £12-15 pound a time on something I need in almost every room and every guitar case.
IMO there are a few DIY fixes in the guitar world which make a lot of sense, opposed to buying the specialist tool. Not as creative a fix as your DIY vintage radius capo but taking a junior hacksaw to a capo to make one's own 'partial capo' opposed to paying for a specialist partial capo which still might fit your own fretboard of choice is something I've done a few times.
Second shout for schubb though. Got one free with a magazine a few years back and it works well. Nice low profile too.
