Capo on vintage radius guitars

Hi, my capo sounds like guff on my 52 Tele. Can anyone please recommend a capo that works well on your 7.25" radius neck?

Thanks.

I can't comment on the Adaptive Radius Technology in use, but it supposedly follows the shape of the fretboard radius.
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Any £2.99 trigger capo bent in a vice. I have them lying around all over the house and in every guitar case, but the capos in my Strat and Tele cases are slightly reradiused and have 7.25 written on them.

It honestly takes me about ten seconds by eye, they don't need much of a tweak over that length.

Sorry to ask but how do you do that?

Also, which cheap capos do you recommend?

Also, what kind of vice do you use?

    Just this kind of thing;

I don't know that vendor and am not recommending them, but they're everywhere.

I just rig the capo in a bench vice with some pieces of round bar either side of the blade and give it a gentle squeeze, it really doesn't need much.

You could do it with a wood bench vice and blocks of wood, anything really, it doesn't require much force.

If you don't have any of that stuff to hand you're probably better off buying one of the recommended capos above, I just can't bring myself to spend £12-15 pound a time on something I need in almost every room and every guitar case.

i inherited a shubb from god knows where, and it's got mega radius. i think i must have got it off my dad, who has never owned a small-radius guitar so it was never that good to him! either way, it's just the thing for turning open G into open A on my slide tele.

Cheers for the info. It seemed a pretty inventive solution to something which I imagine quite a few have a few spare capos around and could DIY themselves a radius capo.

IMO there are a few DIY fixes in the guitar world which make a lot of sense, opposed to buying the specialist tool.  Not as creative a fix as your DIY vintage radius capo but taking a junior hacksaw to a capo to make one's own 'partial capo' opposed to paying for a specialist partial capo which still might fit your own fretboard of choice is something I've done a few times.

The old g7th performance capo doesnt work on my 52ri. Not tried the newer version.

Second shout for schubb though. Got one free with a magazine a few years back and it works well. Nice low profile too.

Shubbs come in different radii.  I had one guitar with a much flatter radius that I used to use the classical verison of the Shubb.

I did end up getting rid of my Shubbs, as they pulled the tuning out far more than the G7th.

Olde worlde elastic capos are pretty good for 7.25" radius neck - they're slightly bendy

Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

I only have one 7.25” guitar in my collection at the mo and the Kyser works fine. If you want something designed for that radius though (and adds some bling too) then check out a Thalia capo which has interchangeable radiuses inserts.
