History of ( Fender) Capri Orange?

This is a recent option on the Player series. As far as I can see ( google) the colour goes back to the International Series in 1981.
Anyone know if it was used earlier than that, possibly as a custom colour? 

One of the less obvious Fender colours, which famous player used a Capri Orange guitar who has momentarily slipped my mind?

Ahh, nice. I think it needs the maple board, seems an odd match with the rosewood/ pau ferro ( on the HSS strat and the Jazzmasters from the Player series I think).

I'm sure the International series was the debut of Capri orange.

I love the look of the Internationals with their black pick up covers, screws and knobs.

I'm not sure if it is down to fading but the originals seem lighter in colour than the recent versions.
