Hi, just wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of any London based luthiers, (ideally building high-end Les Paul / Strat type guitars).

I'm really keen to learn more and would be happy to help out for free to gain some experience.

If you are looking to learn the skills - then for,al training is your best bet 

This guy runs courses (and will do electric).

He is one of the main tutors for guitar making at Merton College /South Thames college, where we cherry pick our staff from

Yeah mike's great he originally taught me at college, building carved tops is something I'd think about after you've done some easier flat top building, it's not absolutely necessary but you need an understanding of set neck joints etc, a long tenon takes a bit of practice unless you use a junior type joint which is much easier 

If I get a bigger workshop I'll probably be looking at doing some building tuition, either one to one or 2 at most

I'm ideally hoping to find someone a little closer to me and who might be happy for me to help out rather than pay for a course but I have sent Mike a message to find out more!

There's a guy near hanger lane I think, he teaches guitar making and he was a student of mike's, his name is David Payne if I remember, Google it and see if it comes up, might be worth chatting to him, he's in NW10
