Web hosting - help choose a new one

Website experts help needed please -

I've used Claranet to host my family name domain for what must be close to 15 years. I've used the superbasic option, its been peanuts money per year and I only need it now for email hosting, I don't actually run a website on it any more. I have never needed help, its always worked.

But from December they want to charge me £120pa for a basic package, which is about 10x current price. I have no current knowledge on good/bad hosts for basic package - host my domain name and domain emails, but I'm sure they can be reliable and low priced these days?

If you have a basic host package, Who do you recommend at what kind of cost?

And the big one - how the heck do I transfer domains without everything breaking???

I’ve had a few domains hosted with Hostpapa for years now. They were a very well priced option when I went to them and because they’ve been 100% reliable and happy to walk an old fool through any of the tech stuff that makes no sense to me, I’ve renewed every year without looking.
