    Deluxe Telecaster bodies have a neck pocket to take a Strat neck.

    I guess the Deluxe was introduced just after Blind Faith.

    I have done similar with an old paulwonia tele body of dubious parentage ,quality and dimensions and a Squier Joe Trohman tele (large head strat ) neck with a chewed up truss rod nut  .Its not so much custom shop ,more like  dumpster out side a pawn shop but  it plays well and sounds good.I like 12 inch radius Fender neck for my sins .

    Clapton also played a Danelectro on the Blind Faith album, but people probably try and forget that. :)
