GTYBR is on repeat listen on my turntable at the moment. I never noticed how the outro of Grey Seal is pure The Who before. He clearly took a trick from collaboration on Tommy.

It really is a great album. I can't help but wonder why he is known better for his later, pretty average output. There is an identity to this music which has definitely been lost.

My thoughts exactly, his early albums were exceptionally good but I lost interest after 1979. His 80s output was as bland as cardboard.  A bit like Stevie Wonder.
