I currently have a Mesa Mark V:25 and find myself quite tempted by a Rockerverb50/100

its gonna be for home use really, I know some might say a 100w amp for home is overkill

anyone got any experience with the orange amp they’d like to share?

  • Don't do it. You'll regret it. The Mark V 25 is an outstanding amp.

My hatred of Orange amps is rivalled only by how terrible they sound.

There’s always this mid hump with orange you can’t dial out. It’s more noticeable at lower volumes too as the treble is missing.

Do not do this unless you can afford to keep both for long enough to find out which you *really* prefer, and then sell the one you don't like at probably a loss.

Far too many of us think the grass is greener, and end up spending a lot of money, time and frustration just to end up back where they started in the first place... me included.

I would not buy a Rockerverb for home use either, if it matters - even with the so-called 'attenuator' on the current ones. And I say that even as a big fan of the Rocker 30, especially in a band context.

Wis'd this. Have them both in the room and A/B if you can. I did this after convincing myself that amp B was better than amp A I was bored with...until they sat side by side and I could hear them one after the other. Amp B went back in a hurry!

Only Orange amp I have ever liked is the TH30 combo.

The Mark V series are absolute chameleons. Spend more time with it, your tone is in there.

Unless your tone is Marshall or Rectifier sounds :).

^Ha - That should be put with an asterisk under the adverts for the mark V. I totally bought into the "it does everything" pitch

I had a Mark V, and found the cleans amazing, but couldn't get a marshall sound for love nor money. I ended up using an SL drive and got everything thing I needed. That took me down the route of finding an old Mark 1.

Now I'm seeking out proggy Petrucci tones ... you can't win ...

Glad I sold the V though, lot of money tied up and looked too fancy for me (it is an amazing amp though!)
