I've found the one... for now! Needing something for my band that was versatile but still punchy, I found this in guitarguitar a few months ago. I wanted something cheapish that was a base to modify, so I could leave my old 330 at home. But stupidly had my heart set on a new player series strat. I tried that instead, brought it, loved it and home but it was so cutting in rehearsals I couldn't get on with it. So back to guitarguitar a few weeks later to try what I should have originally and loved it. Exchange done, and it does exactly what I want it to. Humbuckers give me more sustain for solo bits, and the split coil sounds are really useful for different bits in our set, like funkyish rhythm bits.

It's the SUB version so I don't mind gigging with it and messing around with it, to be honest I didn't really know they did it til I saw it in the shop... I'm not a massive fan of the strat-ish look of them with the white pickguards but the black on black I think is brilliant. I wasn't really a fan of satin necks, but I am now! It needed a bit of lemon oil, a fret polish and a little bit of attention to the fret ends but nothing too drastic. 

The headstock was the only thing I thought looked really cheap in comparison to the MM version. It wasn't to cover the SUB name or the signature, it just looked odd to me. So I played with some black vinyl and managed to cut it with an exacto knife reeeeally gently about 2mm in from the edge, so it wouldn't catch on the case and come off. I put some satin chrome locking Spurzels on it at the same time and they feel great. 

So... could anyone print me a waterslide decal of Albert Lee's signature to put it back on. I could do it myself with a printer but I'm not sure if it would come out well over the black and be too faint. Obviously I'd pay all expense!

I'm going to replace the super switch as it feels really cheap, and I'll replace the pots and wiring while I'm at it. The neck pickup does get really muddy at gig volume so I'm looking into replacing pickups. Has anyone got any good suggestions? I want a warmish set that are clear and clean. I've had a look around but not sure what's what really, I see a load of high output and vintage spec stuff?
