Is there a key for public singing or just what suits vocalists in the band?

F, G Or D probably. 

Maybe Db for transposed instruments? dunno though. 

Anyway it doesn’t really matter, whatever fits the instruments’ (or singers’) ranges.

Proper key is F for 'everyone' to manage it, but if your singist is leading, then they decide.

Get in thier quick, otherwise the crowd starts without you and you end up fumbling around for a key near to them and catching up.

We play the Slade version which is in A - Ab for us as we`re down 1/2 a step. They modulate to C when the band comes in - we don`t. Sits fine for singing along!

Countdown then big A band chord on midnight so we`re singing and playing the same key :-)

I think we going for a three-chord trick in D. I haven't practised it since our quick run-through with no vocalists or drummer.

Should be interesting.

I prefer The Parting Glass myself, but, guess it's become the obligatory standard for Hogmanay.

Just pick whichever key suits your singer
