Gibson Standard SG vs Modern SG (high performance)

Anyone played one of each back to back or even own one of each? 

Having owned a standard sg for couple of years now it's my go to comfortable great tone player and I need a second guitar (ok a 7th guitar!) but rather than just get another sg standard I'm thinking of the  sg modern.   However without being closer to any shops that stock them its tricky to try them out. 

I know thr specs differences but if anyone had any hands on playing comparison experience,  what's yr verdict on thr differences?

Having now played both I can report:

The sg standard has a beautiful slim taper fast neck with expressive and quite high output but cleaning up nicely. Sounds and feels awesome. 

The sg modern has a baseball bat neck,  feels slightly wider although apparently isn't,  the pickups are a little less overdrive bit don't clean up quite so well.  Sounds nice though but feels likeI'm fighting it. 

Overall id say the standard is easier for hard rock super lead playing and the modern better for more expressive blues rock playing.
