Any amature film makers on board?

My daughter and myself have decided to make a film, mecanno spider attacks playmobile, the spider is battery operated and controlled via an app on her tablet. we are just making up the different scenes in Paint, will be making different sets etc over the next week or so. We have two cameras and various bits of lighting equipment.
However, what we need are special effects, are there any free video editing softwares out there that we can utilise? Something to make the spider fly through space, add explosions etc?

What a great little project , good luck with the software, I think you should be ok , there seems to be all sorts of stuff available now. Did your daughter make the spider ? Could have a budding engineer there by the sound of it. Have fun

This is the spider we are using, should make mince meat of the playmobile!

Good choice.

Theo at Miesner Media has some decent tutorials but you'll find lots of other stuff on YouTube anyway.

You will find things much easier if you have a decent graphics card but give it a go and see how you get on.

It's the only editing software I use. It's amazing.

I also downlaoded it 9/10 times it crashes on load and the tenth time it crashed before i could actually amange to try it.


So....it might be awesome for all i know but i can actually get it to run for long enough to find out.
