Looks to me like someones sanded the finish down to the bare wood, you can even see the layers in the ply.

    Not adequately, no.

  • All I can see is a reflection. Surely it follows the binding because the binding isn't flush to the guitar so the lacquer is raised?

My guess? Reflection of a tall window with something (big vase?) sitting in the window sill.
The reflection is naturally upside down so the vase appears as a shadow at the top.

The big patch of bare wood where the finish is sanded off. Or a reflection. Nobody knows, but this is the image:

    Seriously it's a reflection it's obvious.

The picture hasn't been taken face on so it will look wonky.

Here it is from a different angle.

Clearly the same guitar, but I'm not sure those are reflections..

The bridge posts are offset for intonation, that always makes the treble pickup look wonky. And that thing in the top is probably a reflection. Ask for another picture without a reflection in the top

If you zoom right in, you can see a mild orange peel texture on the REFLECTION from a ceiling light. This is a continual texture from the red over the lighter section. Bare wood doesn’t usually have an orange peel texture.

  • Definitely a reflection of a light

In the pictures on page 1 there is a reflection tracing the binding on the lower cutout on the second picture, this is not evident on the first picture.  It is part of the same reflection

No one's said it so far but I think it might be a reflection

  • To my eye, the light effect on the rest of the body isn’t consistent with the main light source being a strip lamp. The fact that this is dividing opinion should be a warning to ask for some better full length pictures in natural light.
I'll get a round to buying a 'real' guitar one day.

Is that a reflected opinion or your own?
