    That's nice.
Whilst most doublenecks seem to have the necks too far apart, the ones on that seem awfully close together.

    Wot? No road trip thread?

Interesting pickups. Could be Armstrong - Kent or Dan.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Gorgeous. Lovely hardware.
So many questions... what is the third backplate for? Is it for active pickups battery storage?

I think it was priced at £3k, which was too much for me.

You have an archive? Who knew...  ;)
The 6 string pickups have been changed, but otherwise that looks like the beast all right, great find.

That's a great picture. pickups on the 6 changed out do you think? Rings look original. The pups look like the KA Rainbow's on my second manson, which are different to the ones on my other earlier one, which have a little raised Rainbow on them.

Do you know who made their hardware?  The 12-string bridge looks like the ones John  Birch used and I have a hardtail Strat bridge somewhere which looks a lot like that trem, with the extremely elongated saddles.

Pretty much certain those six string pickups are Kent Armstrong Rainbows ... glorious pickups.

I have a few KA pickups from that period - definitely Kent's work.

The later pickups ditched the 'Rainbow' logo and in fact he still makes them by hand to order. I recently had a matching Stereo Humbucker made to match an early 80s one I acquired on here. He had to dig out the resin-casting mould from his storage container to match it and he was full of apologies that he couldn't 100% match the resin (H&S, environmental stuff) but its a pretty much exact replica (overwound for the bridge).

If you pop them out, they will have little labels on the bottom with handwritten code on them. Kent (or his son Aaron, who is based in the UK) is very cool about decoding this, if you are interested. Fantastic pickups!

VERY cool guitar - do you know who it was made for?

Cheers @impmann @OilCityPickups - once I start dismantling the guitar, I’ll update the thread accordingly.

No idea about its history - the pic of Peter Cook is from the (1980) Sounds Book of the Electric Guitar:
