What's Hot
1979 freakin awesome year  12 year old me got tapes of Rainbow and Deep Purple from my cousin .
It was a cheap way of getting records you couldn’t afford . Two Monotone brand C60 cassettes of awesome stuff. My tape had a tone and volume knob  and one strange switch , that you pushed forward or left or right to do various things like play record  forward or rewind.

anyway here’s the video

  • I’ll have to watch that, I loved Tiswas.
One of my childhood memories of my father is that Bob Carolgees and Spit did a gig at the college where he worked, my father was talked into going and he came back rather shocked by how rude the humour was.

The drum-off between Powell and the young lad had me comparing their efforts with shredding. Listening to them only alleviated by the novelty of hearing a drum solo for the first time in ages. The kid thinking that faster and faster drumming is the the way to make an impression, and Cozy Powell either following suit or trying to introduce a little variation into his playing depending on your persuasion. Some nuance, groove and swing would have been welcome. Fair play to Tiswas for making this happen, though. Especially as there's nothing like Tiswas now. Or seeing drummers being given such a platform.
