Rage Against The Machine - Microphone Fiend

What am I hearing on the bass guitar on this track?? Around 2:20ish when the chorus kicks in.

It sounds like a super fuzzed out rectified bass tone, but still solid AF in the lows.

Bye!

  • he has a few homemade blank silver boxed pedals which (i think) have remained secret for years - all his bass tones are amazing though, such a killer band.

His live rig has always been either two or three sets of heads/cabs, with the first being an always on clean, the second being dirty that he'd add in on top, with the third (when he's used it) being another level of dirt.  I imagine he's taken a similar approach in the studio, an always-on clean for the big lows with the fuzz layered on top.
