Just curious to know what people would use to boost the signal, particularly to bring out more sustain and that sizzle from the saturation of a nice tube amp.

The particular scenario I have is a single coiled strat going into a Marshall tube amp on the red channel.

  • None; the guitar should be clear enough in the mix regardless of solo

    Arc Effects or RYRA Klone.

Edit: and usually a Carbon Copy delay as well.  ;)

An EQ pedal, then you can add mids as well as volume.

A looper pedal to bring in a delay and EQ set to reverse V shape, run in the amp’s fx loop. That’s normally enough, but if I need additional gain I can step on the soul food out infront of the amp too.

I don't gig now but in the past it was always a Rat - I had 2 on a board - One set-up with little gain, but vol up for more natural boost - The other had more gain as required

Whatever dirt pedal I've accidentally set my multifx to. As long as its louder and gainier, it will do.

  • A midi pedal that turns on 18 delays and 12 reverbs.

I turn my antiboost off which makes the signal louder and makes the pedal light come on even though it's actually in bypass when it's on.
