I second the vote for a secondhand desk.

I got my last two like that, because people want them collected and if you're prepared to do that, they can be had cheap.

Keep searching for radio or broadcast desks / furniture on eBay.

The first I bought was a 40u+ radio desk for about £100, which I collected myself.

The second (which I still have) is a Lund Halsey which would have been thousands new. Cost me about £150 IIRC and I had it collected by anyvan.com. That cost me about another £100, but still great value for £250.
