I have this Xotic xtc1, and as much as I love the esquire-ness of it I do miss a bit of neck pickup action. 

I found this really nice engraved pickguard on eBay, so going to fit this and drop in the Lollar Royal T and a pre-wired tele harness. 

 

I’m going with the pre-wired harness as I’m sure I’ll want to go back to the esquire configuration at some point and would like to be able to switch back and forth.  (and my soldering is crap)

IMO, preserving the original wiring harness intact was a wise choice. Saves a lot of soldering work. The second pickup was also a wise choice. 

Unfortunately, to me, that late Fifties shade of Blonde finish looks wrong with anything other than a thin single-ply white ‘guard.
