  • My first ever proper job was as a sound engineer at The Sage, Gateshead, for the support act for McCoy Tyner. My artist, John Surman, a legend himself, was visibly awed when meeting Tyner and shaking his hand backstage. So I got sit and watch Tyner play and really cherish that experience. 'The Real McCoy' album is a fantastic place to start - 'Contemplation' an amazingly emotional display of piano virtuosity.
