This afternoon, my daughter expressed an interest (again - the last time went nowhere) in learning the guitar.

I had a quick nose in the spares pile and bunged this together for her:

I wanted to sort something quickly as (like all other kids) she’ll be off school from Monday and the enforced house arrest might mean she sticks at it a bit more.

Have to say, I love those old Fenix necks. Plays great!

    the last time went nowhere
    Any particular reason why?

Would an instrument with fewer strings be easier to get to grips with? e.g. Ukulele, mandolin or bass guitar.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Not really...she just lost interest, then switched to drums (but that fizzled out too). I also gave her an acoustic guitar which she picks up intermittently.

    We’ll see...

That looks remarkably like a normal guitar - are you feeling OK?

Because you didn’t have an already built guitar she could use ?

So, a lack of application rather than struggling with the physical demands of any given instrument.

Ironically, in these interesting times, it is gathering together with others that might be the missing ingredient.

  • Kick out the Jams MF!
I like those Fenix necks too, I've never had one, but played a couple used ones over the years in shops. Funny, I only ever saw Fenix Tele's never anything else, though there probably were.

Hope your daughter enjoys it & sticks with it til she gets to the point where it becomes enjoyable.

Could you not have just nipped out to warehouse and grabbed one for her?

I could have, but when I offered to build one for her, she told me there was no way I could do that before Monday.

    Challenge accepted! :)

2 hours later, I gave her the guitar.

Nice job! The Stars and Stripes scratch plate looks perfect on that black body.

The body is actually a really deep turquoise - really hard to photograph though!
