Not my normal colour choice, but I was after a 24 fret SS fret two point trem guitar for recording and this has 10 useable voices you can choose from with convenient switching.

So perfect for the job.

Turned up this evening, so pic is a bit dark.

As an aside if you like lightweight guitars (I actually prefer heavy ones myself), then this thing is super light.

    Very nice

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the parallel sounds.

  • Very nice indeed! What is it?
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

It is an Ibanez AZ242 with the usual unforgettable name. I have a couple of old early RG550s and wanted something without a locking trem.

I do use middle pickups on my Strats a lot, however this extra switching intrigued me and I have been demo'ing it for about an hour now through Logic via various amp sim plugins and it is pretty versatile.

Hasn't gone out of tune yet and came factory fitted with D'Addario 10s, so pretty much what I use on most of my guitars. They are a bit tired from storage but cleaned up well with some Fast Fret and a wipe down.

First impressions are pretty positive, new fresh strings and fret polish would really help though.

Better pic here, it looks pretty good if you like bright guitar colours.

I would love one of these, it's lovely. if they did a graduated blue one, I'd be in trouble. Thankfully, the Martin Miller Sig is so expensive, my common sense is winning that one

I love my AZ, I've hardly played any of my other guitars in the last 3-4 months since I got it. Fresh set of strings makes all the difference too  =)

Yes, I figured at that price it was worth a punt. Was also looking at Charvel DK24 2PT models, but already own a SoCal and wanted something different enough to warrant it.

This filled that criteria and still had the things I was after. I'm not a massive fan of maple quilt/flame tops and see-thru finishes usually (I do have a Peavey Wolfgang Special that is like this though), but was more about the features with this one.

I'm going to thrash these factory fitted strings for a bit and then when I re-string it give it some   serious recording time. The voicing options on it are pretty impressive and so could be a great studio tool.
