Can you put single coil pickup covers with no holes on regular pickups?

I'm after that look, but I can't stretch to EMGs or Lace Sensors right now.

    I wouldn't suggest it on top of staggered poles, but I don't see why not on non staggered, aren't covered pickups just that?

    No, covered pickups have the polepieces flush with the top of the bobbins. It does make a difference - the pickup coil is then further from the strings - but not that much.

    If the pickups are Fender US Standard types with plastic bobbins, you can push the polepieces down until they're flush though...

    Yes … on Fender Mustang pickups and the Seymour Duncan SSL-4 Quarter Pound.

    I have two black single coil covers of this type. They slip over some bobbins more easily than others.
