Belated NGD - Fender CS Artisan Wood Porn

Last year, I got a couple of Artisan Koa topped guitars. One a thinline Strat from this forum, and shortly after a thinline Tele, which has become my favourite guitar. A couple of months ago, I sold some really great CS guitars to add a couple more Artisan guitars to the collection. Both came from the US with rather painful import duty :s

I thought I'd share as some pretty wood might cheer a few people up in these crappy times.

The First was from Dave's guitars. It's a spalted maple Strat, roasted alder body, roasted 4a flame maple neck, ebony fingerboard, loaded with Ancho Poblano pickups.

Then from Wildwood, a Tamo Ash Caballo Tono Ligero Thinline (possibly the worst named guitar in history). This had a bit of lacquer cracking, which I'm fine with. Birds eye maple neck, rosewood board, roasted ash body, TV Jones neck, Wildwood spec twisted tele in the bridge.

Sorry for dropbox links, but every time I try and post pictures directly to the forum, it fails.

Spalted woods are one of the best looking woods imo (not just for guitars either).

This one looks lovely though you must be very happy with both.

Thank you @Paul_C for posting these and everyone who has commented.

The Strat is spectacular. The tele is a real looker, but I've not quite dialled it in properly yet. The TV Jones is quite muddy, which I'm surprised at, but it's got a classic sounding bridge pickup.

@bazxkr Fender really put something into these Artisan guitars. I don't think you'll be sorry if you get the Rosewood. They were seriously pretty as well.

I've got to admit, while they're not my thing per se, they're both absolutely beautiful guitars. Congratulations!
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

They both look incredible.  I love the backs of the necks.  The only thing (here we go  :) ) I'm not really sure about is the Strat pickguard but I've no idea what would look better either!

Like a great Strat. The Anchos can be a touch darker than a traditional Strat, but the ebony board and maple top have slightly brightened it compared to Ancho loaded guitars I've had before. All the Strat tones are there and it's got a lovely ballsy bridge

Cracking guitars Chris. Regarding the TV Jones, I recently bought one of the FSR Tele Cabronitas. I think, particularly with a TV Jones in the neck position, getting the pick up height is key. Mine was very 'boomy' on the lower strings. Dropping the height down a bit sorted it out.

Appreciate the tip, Sid. Boomy is a great description. I’ll drop the pickup height and see what happens. I’m hoping for a more beatlesy sound for it clean and some balls when it goes dirty

Cool, as much as I am a massive Les Paul fan I do like the sound of an overdriven Strat. You’ve got two cracking guitars there, just a bit jealous!
Tomorrow will be a good day.
