F-its F hole covers

I'm on a feedback reduction treasure hunt for my 335. It just sounds better even though it's not suited to high gain fuzz at high volume

Has anybody tried these:

https://www.f-itsfeedbackblockers.co.uk/

I like the fact that he experimented with different materials to use in his own double bass and that there's a little lip to stop them falling in. Also UK based

Other options are gaffer tape, or to try inflating a balloon and wedging something between the balloon and the inside of the hole. Gaffer might look okay (black on black) but I'd be concerned about the finish (nitro)

edit: the name works on three levels too, f*** it, also they fit in the holes so they are fits, and f as in f hole obvs. The man's a genius

No idea about the f-hole covers but don't use gaffer tape, that's how I (deliberately) stripped the finish from my Gibson, in a fanny wax style.

Those look like an interesting alternative to bunging up the cavities with dampening materials. (Henceforth, to be known as Stuff-its!)
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

My brother's got some for his ES 330 (or whatever it's called) and they really do reduce feedback surprisingly well.

Nah... what you do is just get a can of builder’s expanding foam spray and fill the guitar with it - that stops the feedback completely.

Actually completely, because it not only bungs up the pots and switch, as it cures it produces corrosive vapour which gets into the pickups and destroys them, so now no sound comes out through the amp at all.

Then you have to pay a repairer to scrape as much of it out as possible with violin-maker’s chisels and replace all of the electrics, which is about a day’s work plus parts and costs almost the same as buying a new guitar.

Yes, someone really did bring me a 90s Epiphone Sheraton they’d done that to... so I think on balance these look like a better idea :).

Why would you want to do that deliberately?

    £45

    i would try this first

    https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-functional-jumbo-car-sponge/p/5691640

80p and a can of black matt spray paint couple of coats outside ,let them dry, then just squeeze in the f hole and it will push out to fit ,easily removed...

instead of spraying matt black you could stick black card to them

Didn't BB King just stuff a towel inside his guitar?

You must be playing ferkin loud for a 335 to feedback ..... it's a centre-block guitar so ought to be nearly as resistant as a solid-body. 330s/Casinos are hollow, so would benefit from Doug's plugs or similar.

Try standing to one side of the speaker, just a couple of feet, should be ok if neck is in line with speakers, as long as the body isn't
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Because it's a hundred times quicker than sanding.
    I was refinishing it.

Cool I reckon I’ll give them a go. I've been winding the noise gate up which is fine until you want to clean up with the volume control

    No F holes
That's because he asked for no f-holes (when he was famous) after stuffing a towel in the ones with f-holes (before he was famous)....

From what I'm reading covering is more effective than stuffing. It's to do with the air going in and out of the holes

My Gretsch Country Classic has painted on f holes which I thought was a great idea. There’s a clip on pad on the back which covers a plastic disc which is easily removed to gain excellent access to the electronics for repairs or upgrades.

If I could spec a guitar from scratch I would definitely do that :)
