What home / jam bass amp ?

What's Hot

Hi Folks ,

I bought my son a 6 string Harley Benton bass this week to help him cope with cabin fever.  The 20 watt Hiwatt amp he has always used for his 4 string Ibanez is buzzing and farting , I’m assuming because of the hotter pickups and lower tuning of the Harley Benton (even at home volume)

I said I’d go half with him for a better amp and he likes the look of the Orange Crush 50 bass mp.  Anyone tried one or have any recommendations please ?    Budget no more than £250 ideally

Thanks very much!

    I've just bought a TC Electronic BG250 112.
It's a great little amp, good eq, aux in, speaker mute, built in tuner and two tone print options, xlr out.
It's a great amp, only 16kg as well.

Good thump from the 112, and not as big as the 210 or 115.
It was only £300 new, which is stretching your budget a bit though.

Cheers Andy. Would it be too simplistic to say that the higher the wattage the less chance of the speaker farting out on the boomy notes ?

Bass is a bit different than guitar, I'm certain the 250w the TC puts put is only as loud as a 60w MarkBass.
Wattage on these is a vague guide more than anything.

It's certainly loud enough to fill a good sized room without clipping, and sounds nice and full at really low volume.

Just saw a Fender Rumble 100on Ebay and snagged it for £185 and it looks mint. It will mean hes got a bit of power if he goes beyond jams with mates - his bloody talented (drums, guitar and bass) but very anxious unfortunately which has stopped him being in a band already.
