Remember seeing great clip of John Peel driving through Norfolk (?) in open top 50s American car blaring out Moonlight in Vermont - inspiring stuff.

Excellent idea, excellent playing (as ever).
I have been smitten by Captain Beefheart since I first heard 'Safe as Milk', saw him live several times and don't think there's an album I don't love.
You might try 'Peon' at some point, sounds like it'll be a doddle to learn     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMnd9dvb3sA

Ha, I love Trout Mask Replica but it's never actually occurred to me that it might be possible to PLAY any of it! Nice work.

I love the stuff, trying to play it just fucking winds me up though, unless it's stuff off Safe as Milk or Clear Spot which is relatively simple. I love the first record though, Ry Cooder is all over it

I think he's great - ice cream for crow and other such gems. Safe as milk is probably my fave, but very clever guy. Makes me happy.

When I get invited onto Desert Island Discs, about 6 of my 8 records will be Beefheart's.

  • I've never tried to cover or even play along with any Beefheart. Saw them once at Portsmouth Guildhall. Wonderful stuff.
I sometimes think, therefore I am intermittent
