Cubase - lost audio pool files

EDIT: I'M AN IDIOT. It wasn't even on this laptop that I recorded them, it was an old one. So currently running as many recovery searches as I can find on the old hard drive. STUPID STUPID STUPID

Hi all, hoping somebody who knows Cubase can help me.

I've been trying to rejig some of my home recorded songs to improve them, I've gone to open one of them and it can't find any of the audio pool files. It seems to suggest for some reason they were saved in my documents under the Cubase Projects folder.

They aren't in the folder that the project is saved in. Am I to assume that's those files lost for good??
