Sourcing a Lapsteel guitar nut

An ideas where I can source a replacement nut for a guyatone lapsteel.   

Currently fitted with a standard nut riser which is not wide enough.  .

I guess the original nut might have looked like the one shown here that belongs to member DulcetJones.

It could be difficult sourcing an original but maybe try the Steel Guitar Forum to see if anyone can help. In the meantime maybe make one from some 1” x 1/2” brass unequal angle.
