Nitro advice for novice... edited w/goldtop build pics

Easy gents

Just doing my first goldtop attempt
 So I've got some nwguitars gold nitro & grey primer

Am I going to need a clearcoat over my gold?
 I'd like to get a nice toughish glossy finish 

I have at my disposal;
* 2k lacquer (guessing this would eat nitro?!!!)
* Some linseed based finishing oil I use on most guitars (would this be ok for just a light wipe as the last coat?)

Or do I just dig deep/stop being tight & get some clear nitro?

You definitely need clear coat over the  the gold. Get clear nitro lacquer then watch/read some of the online guidance on spraying metallic lacquers. Particularly the last mist coat of metallic and first mist coats of clear.

A good gold top always looks better in nitro it just brings it together and later the wear and age give it character.

I got round to doing the (possibly) last coats of clear. Looking ok so far

Bit of sanding & polishing & were done!! Hoping the 2 obvious flat spots sand out ok

Seeing as theres plenty of Corona builds knocking about; here it is finished

 (2pc bound korina body, mahogany neck, ebony board, headstock, dimarzio breed & tonezone pickups, Wilkinson hardware)

  Pretty stoked with it. Few imperfections in paint & coil splits inner coil on bridge pickup but I can sort both of them if they bug me enough

Cheers winny, yes, body & stuff from scratch. Neck was a part made gsp one!
 Already planning next build lol

That looks fantastic. Love the sparkle. Is that an ebony fretboard? Looks great against the body and I really like the lack of markers.
