Hello,

So I got my new p 90 today fitted with no problems, in the process the top E and B snapped, and as I'm having to wait till Monday for new strings, I went on the local fb group and someone offered some strings in trade for some potatoes as they could not get out of the house, so social distancing adhered too and anti bac wipes used, the deal was done.

however... they are clearly acoustic strings, but I thought I only need the high E and B so they will do till next week. Popped them on and the high e is significantly lower in output than the others through the amp on both pickups .

Have a messed something up when changing the pickup or is it down to the acoustic strings?

Any ideas?

Additionally the new B is not doing the same as the new E

It's the strings. I did exactly that with some cheap 'Alice' brand strings a while ago when I broke a top E and had them to hand - thinking that acoustic and electric plain strings are all the same... which they often are. But this one was made of some sort of weird non-magnetic stainless steel or something, and produced about half the output volume that the other strings did.

As the above sounds like the strings. I'd take them back for a refund if the spuds haven't been mashed

This whole bartering thing is the way forward.  When this lockdown malarkey began, I got a 36-pack of Charmin, a kg of plain flour and 4 tins of beans for my '59 burst.

How many potatoes equates a packet of acoustic strings in this post apocalypse market - in case my circumstances change?

Vintage potatoes are better. They wear better. The newer ones chip easily.

You could sell the rest of the set by saying they came from someone who's doing a Peel session.

I trust you're doing the sensible thing and parting out the Charmin pack?
