Engineer's Thumb Comp?

Anyone tried one of these? If I'm understanding correctly it's topographically similar to a Dynacomp style comp but better with a lower noise floor and more controls. I notice Fuzzdog does a kit, and I'm in building mode at the moment, so wondering if anyone else has built and/or tried one?

I'm also curious about this one, not sure whether to go for the 2 knob or 4 knob versions, both with the bright switch. Having both threshold + ratio ('compression') settings is overkill for guitar, and attack and release just need to be tuned for your pickups really (like the keeley comp) and can then be forgotten.

Well I've got the kit now, so we'll see when I get a coupe of spare hours. I'm actually thinking of it for bass as much as anything. Full report when it's done!
