Flame veneer onto a guitar with binding

I wondered for a while of adding a flame maple veneer to a guitar with binding on it. Its an RG body with an arm contour so I wondered if this was possilble or a massive pain in the arse?

To do a good job with clean edges it wouldn’t be easy, but not impossible. If you’re able to the best option would be to remove the existing binding, sort out the veneer, then re-bind the body. I’m not sure if there’s a particularly good way to do it that wouldn’t otherwise look a little shoddy!
